Regardless of whether you are an introvert or extrovert, you can be charismatic and interesting.

In my presentations, I have a chart that shows all the elements of your presence. I ask participants to score themselves in each of the areas. I always ask them which area is the one with the lowest score. Almost every time for the last 6 years, the same area comes up: Captivating.

Being captivating allows you to become memorable. So, you can see here the 'problem' if you want to stand out and be remembered in business or even in life.

Remember, people do business with people they like. If they can not remember you, how are they going to like you?

Here are some tips on how to be more interesting:

1. Be passionate about something and share that openly. There is nothing more captivating than seeing a person talking with passion about something.

2. Be different and own it. When other people see you being comfortable with who you are, they will be captivated by your presence. And they will be inspired by it.

3. The most captivating people are often good listeners. The more you listen, the more the other person will feel comfortable around you. Be curious. 'Becoming interested in others is one way to become interesting yourself'.

4. Talk about the other person's interests. Following the previous point, find what the person is interested in, make it all about them. Ask questions and listen closely.

5. Have a good story to share. We all love stories, that is why we like shows and movies. Share something that happened to you that week or month that was a highlight in your life.

6. Ask different questions. Stop the boring 'what do you do?' as an opening question. Ideas: Why do you do what you do, how did you get to where you are in your life/business today, or what is something not many people know about you. Go deeper than small talk.

7. Look the part. Take pride in your appearance and make sure you are representing yourself visually in the best way possible. If you look good, you feel good.

I know not all of us feel comfortable and confident approaching others to talk. But if you prepare yourself mentally (decide you will show up fully and not worry about what others think of you), follow the ideas I shared here today, and practice some power poses before entering any room, I can guarantee you will feel

I encourage you to embrace your uniqueness and let it shine through with every interaction.

If you feel you have been hiding at work or in social settings, I want you to take responsibility. Look at ways you have kept yourself small or invisible.

Make this a great week!
